I completely recommend this great RV dealer. The sales staff and service support is awesome. I was on an extended trip to the Southwest when my refrigerator stopped working. I called the service department and they diagnosed the problem, and overnite shipped the repair part to my campground location, I installed the part and I was happily back on the road again. They are the best! Over fifteen years I have purchased 5 Travel trailers from them and have been completely satisfied with the purchase and service departments every time. I recommend this RV store to any one looking to buy an RV or have one serviced.

Warning! Bad RV Dealer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Now that I am back from vacation I have to say I am very disappointed in my experience at Westland Camping Center. My family and I rented a RV from Westland Camping Center to enjoy northern Michigan parks for the week. What a mistake! In addition to the RV being filthy and causing us to spend spending several hours cleaning it we found the roof top A/C did not blow cold air, there was something wrong with the front end of the motorhome. We could not drive over 50 mph without the whole front end shaking. I even had several motorist pull up to me to tell me my driver side front wheel was hopping furiously up and down while I was driving and trying to keep up with traffic. When returning the RV back to Westland Camping center, I arrived on time to turn in the motorhome and although there were other employees there who asked if they could help me, I was told I had to wait for the "RV person" who arrived back to his desk more than 10 minutes late, even after being paged several time by other employees. When he arrived to check me out he had a bad attitude and treated me and my family like we were a major inconvenience in his day. When I tried to tell him about the problems we experienced with the RV, he was not at all interested in listening. Finally he went out to check the mileage on the RV, came back in and printed the bill and asked me to sign. Before signing the bill I noticed a $25 late charge. When I questioned the charge he told me you are past the 12:00 deadline and late. I told him it was only 12:03 and besides, I was there in plenty of time, but had to wait for him to get back to his desk. He stated I should have arrived sooner to allow for that as he was busy. I shared my families experience with the President of Westland Camping Center, Dave Rochette, he too was very rude and not at all interested in the problems we had with the RV and stated "The RVs don't belong to me, I just rent them". When I asked about a refund for the $25 late fee he told me "I can not hire people to sit around here all day waiting for people like you to pull onto my lot with seconds to spare and expect to be waited on immediately". He then told me "I have a business to run and if you think it's easy, you should purchase your own RV center". What a way to end a family vacation! After spending almost $1,500 I would have thought I would have been treated better, but instead, in addition to renting an RV with several major issues, charged a $25 late fee when we were on time, me and my family were treated with disrespect and like our business was a major inconvenience. You may want to think twice before taking your business to Westland Camping Center.

Westland Camping Center Terrible RV Dealer Support

We bought our 2014 FR Flagstaff 5th wheel from Westland Camping Center (Westland Michigan) through an RV Show but that's where the good part ended. We had a page of defects which Westland tried to fix but succeeded on about 20% of them wherein I had to refix or pay to refix. The worst of these was a black water tank leak that drove us crazy due to the smell. They tried to fix it but it reappeared and we had to pay out $560 for a mobile service in Florida to fix of which the manufacturer, FR, paid all but about $100 because their policy is not to pay for the sevice call, just the repair. Wondering why I had to pay anything for the fix that Westland supposedly did I approached the owner of Westland to pick up the remaining $100 but he abruptly refused and after sharing my disappointment with him he told me "Don't bring the trailer back to Westland Camping Center and to go elsewhere for sales and service", which indeed I have heeded. This place adverises it is customer friendly but all I saw from the owner was a lot of arrogance. I don't know how he stays in business with this kind of attitude! Moreover although we had a 6 month free storage agreement we found out that it was for a continuous period so useage out of storage during this 6 month period was not credited. We were told we could pay for additional storage beyond that 6 month calendar period but Westland renegged on that because they had started an RV rental business as well and did not feel that they had the space. As a result we found paid storage elsewhere. Moreover, even though the 6 month storage period was written into the sales agreement the owner had requested that I move the trailer out because I had not removed it during this winter storage period and had not done my out of state title and plate registration (we live outside of Michigan) as he was "worried" that he would be audited and questioned why he had a sold but yet unregistered trailer on his lot. The trailer was paid for by cash upfront and until our need to use it I did not want to move it out of storage. This dealership is a real "pain" and we would not recommend them to anyone on the basis of our experience. Upfront at the show they seemed nice but that is about where it stopped for us! There have been some good reviews but also some similar negative reviews as mine for this dealership which I have discovered since my negative experience with this dealer. It only goes to show that one should check a dealers credentials and reputation before jumping on their sales pitch at an RV show!
